Who am I?

I am me. It's always good to know that. I am also You. Clever 'eh?

I like to think I have great wit and a brilliant sense of humour. Most people seem to disagree.

What is the history of this site?

Once upon a time I had a browser with a lot of bookmarks. Probably in the hundreds. The PC failed and I lost them. After this tail of woe I decided that maybe some things are better stored online.

Why the name?

The name is from a line in Serenity:

Come a day there won't be room for naughty men like us to slip about at all. This job goes south, there well may not be another. So here is us, on the raggedy edge. Don't push me and I won't push you. Dong-luh-mah?

Sounds pretty poetical and I like it.

What software is being used?

The first incarnation of this site was based on PmWiki. Why a wiki? well, why not? I had not set up a wiki site before, and I like the concept. it was something that I wanted to be aware of.

There is a wide choice of wiki software out there, some simpler, some more complicated than PmWiki, but PmWiki had the features I needed and had the also had the benefit of NOT being database driven. After the devastating loss of my bookmarks, I was not content to have such a single point of failure, so the lack of database was a massive feature.

The New incarnation is based on Drupal (version 6). I seem to have lost my fear of databases and Drupal has many features in its favour. It can be heavily customised, can be used as a wiki if needed, or more.
