Something I wrote a couple of years ago, it was inspired by another Firefly based fic called cradle. if you have not seen Firefly AND read some other fan fic out there, this will most likely mean absolutely nothing.

Shadow Company - Introspection

It wasn't supposed to be like this. He was just the grunt. He was supposed to go first. Would have preferred it that way too. Instead he had work to do. He knew why he was doing it. It was his job, his duty. Something he could not – would not – shirk and place on someone else.

'Course he had gutted people before, but this was different. Everyone knew you couldn't leave bodies about in the heat. Not only would they kick up a stench, but also spread disease.

DarkHorse Comics, in conjunction with Myspace has just released a few Firefly 'verse based comic: Serenity: The Other Half. 8 pages of Firefly goodness.

It seems to take place just before the BDM - Serenity and after the two previous comics, Serenity:Better Days and Serenity: Those Left Behind (which take place after the TV Series).

Very intriguing (that is if you have seen the tv series/movie. Which you should have). Go read it.

I have certain preferences to any fanfic I read. This ios not a guide for writers (a hint: write what you want to. Something you find fun), but more me trying to jot down points I like and dislike in fic.

What I like:

• I like the the characters to actually be in character. This is a hard requirement as it is subjective, but some writers seem to ignore character traits to make them fit better into their stories.
• Good interaction between characters, especially if it picks up on subtle interaction which is present in the series or the BDM.
• good insight into characters. I especially like exploration of the subtleties in Zoe's character, which most just see as stoic and nothing more.

Multiple Author Fanfic

Stories written by multiple authors. both of these are split into sequential "episodes" as a series.

• Virtual Firefly is a continuation of the story in script format, starting immediately postseries. It is well written and contains some witty dialogue.
• Firefly The Virtual Seasons is a serialised continuation of the story (that itself ends pretty abruptly).

Single Author Fanfic

Stories written by a single author. These may or may not be in a single series, but stories exploring different aspect of the 'verse. Where possible I will mention the position of the story and whether it is in a series or stand alone.
